24 hours in the most beautiful city on the Rhine
I love Düsseldorf. The gorgeous Rhine promenade, Little Tokyo and freshly tapped Altbier from the traditional breweries, all this can only be experienced here. I show you my favorite spots for a perfect day in Düsseldorf and top addresses from the best breakfast over sightseeing tips to fancy drinks at the best rooftop bars. You will find the best event tipps in my event planner.

10 am – Best Breakfast in town!
A perfect day in Düsseldorf naturally starts with a delicious breakfast. I recommend starting right in the heart of Düsseldorf and recharge your batteries with coffee, croissants or a delicious bowl as the city slowly awakens. The nice neighborhood Carlstadt attracts with the romantic bistro Zicke, a healthy breakfast selection at Laura’s Deli and it is also possible to take it to go or the modern breakfast creations at Birdie & Co – even more great places for breakfast and brunch in Düsseldorf can also be found in our top list.

Düsseldorf is an exciting art metropolis. Not only is it home to the world-famous Kunstakademie, where artists such as Joseph Beuys, Gerhard Richter and Sigmar Polke have studied and taught, but a wide range of galleries, collections and renowned museums make Düsseldorf a top destination for art lovers. Visiting a museum is one of my favorite activities in Düsseldorf, especially on rainy days. Among my favorite museums are the Kunstpalast and the NRW Forum in the Ehrenhof. But you can also regularly marvel at top-tier exhibitions by world-class artists at K20 and K21. Click here for the best art exhibitions in Düsseldorf. 1 pm – Lunch in Little Tokyo
Perfect destination for a lunch in Düsseldorf: Little Tokyo, the culinary quarter No. 1. Around Immermanstraße , Klosterstaße and Bismarkstraße stretches an Eldorado for Asia fans. A stroll past Bubble Teas stores, Asian supermarkets and Manga stores reveals some of the best Japanese restaurants in Germany. My favorites: ramen at Takumi, sushi at Yabase, and the top-tier Japanese set menu at the Michelin-starred restaurant Nagaya. In the side streets there are Asian specialties from Pho to Bibimbap, from Taiwanese to Uyghur. Foodie Paradise! For more japanese restaurants, check out our top list.

2 pm – Shopping on Königsallee & Co.
Besides art, Düsseldorf is also known for shopping! Where better to do that than on Düsseldorf’s premier boulevard, the Königsallee? If you are looking for a relaxed shopping experience, great food, and the convenience of having everything in one place, the Schadow-Arkaden is exactly the right destination for you. Even more of my favorite shopping spots are waiting for you in my shopping toplist. But there are also fantastic shopping streets to discover beyond the city center. Around the hip Ackerstraße in Flingern and Lorettostraße in Unterbilk, you’ll find small boutiques, cool concept stores, and laid-back cafés. Discover all the Mr. Düsseldorf card benefits regarding shopping in Düsseldorf here.

4 pm – Explore & Enjoy Carlsplatz
For many locals, the market at Carlsplatz is the go-to spot for fresh fruit and vegetables and the vibrant culinary heart of the city. Along its aisles, top-tier gastronomy meets some of the finest gourmet food stalls in Düsseldorf. My tip: First, try the delicacies at Fladi, then snack on fantastic tartlets and those legendary croissants at Pure Pastry, and afterwards, stop by Concept Riesling for a glass of German estate wine. Soaking up the unique market atmosphere is one of my favorite things to do in Düsseldorf.
Mr. Düsseldorf cardholders receive numerous benefits and discounts at Carlsplatz.

5 pm – Walk along the Rhine
An absolute must-do and one of the most beautiful activities in Düsseldorf is an atmospheric evening stroll along the Rhine promenade. The best route takes you from the Tonhalle, along the Old Town, and into the Media Harbour with its breathtaking architecture and stylish Gehry buildings. The adjacent Rhine Tower is not only the tallest building in Düsseldorf; it is also home to Qomo, a highly recommended fusion restaurant and bar with a stunning 360-degree view of the city.
Mr. Düsseldorf cardholders receive a 20% discount on a bottle of wine of their choice at Qomo.

7 pm – Fancy Dinner
Dining in Düsseldorf offers a great selection of first-class restaurants for every taste. Whether it’s a brewery, a fine French brasserie, fresh sushi, or a top Italian restaurant, culinary enjoyment is inextricably linked to this city. A top restaurant in Düsseldorf’s Old Town is 20° Restobar for Mallorcan tapas and really good drinks. But Bar Olio in Pempelfort as well as Brasserie Hülsmann in Oberkassel are also must-visits. Regardless of whether it’s a snack bar or Michelin-starred cuisine. Click here for my Top 15 restaurants in Düsseldorf.

As the crowning finale to a perfect day in Düsseldorf, you should make yourself comfortable in one of the breathtaking rooftop bars. At the Paris Club in the 25hours Hotel or the bar at the Ruby Luna Hotel, you can toast to the city with a perfectly mixed drink high above the rooftops of Düsseldorf. 10 pm – Off to the old town!
The classic for long-time locals and tourists alike: a freshly tapped Altbier in the Old Town. Even if the so-called „longest bar in the world“ might have been even more charming in the past, the pub and brewery culture remains one of the most popular activities in Düsseldorf. Ratinger Straße is still the best place for a great night out. Brauerei Kürzer is young and hip, while Uerige, as an iconic cult brewery, lives and breathes tradition. My tip for the late hours: A Salmiakki schnapps at the legendary Kreuzherrenecke – gritty, iconic, and absolutely unique.
Kürzer | Kurze Straße 20 | 40213 Düsseldorf
Uerige | Berger Straße 1 | 40213 Düsseldorf
Kreuzherrenecke | Altestadt 14 | 40213 Düsseldorf
